WaveTherm Corporation has achieved AS9100 certification. This marks an important milestone for our team and a meaningful step forward for the aerospace and defense programs that rely on our thermal and mechanical solutions.
What Is AS9100?
AS9100 is the quality management standard for aviation, space, and defense organizations. It is maintained by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) and builds directly on ISO 9001, the global quality management baseline. Where ISO 9001 sets broad quality system requirements applicable to any industry, AS9100 layers on more than 100 aerospace-specific requirements covering product safety, configuration management, counterfeit parts prevention, component traceability, and formal operational risk management throughout the product lifecycle.
For suppliers in the aerospace and defense ecosystem, AS9100 is the recognized standard of quality credibility. Achieving certification means an independent, accredited auditor has verified that every relevant process, control, and record meets the standard's requirements. It is not self-declared.
From ISO 9001 to AS9100
WaveTherm has held ISO 9001 certification since June 2022. That foundation established the quality management discipline our team operates by every day, from raw material sourcing and in-house machining through final inspection and shipment. AS9100 builds on that foundation with requirements that specifically reflect the stakes of aerospace and defense applications.
The aerospace-specific additions cover traceability, product safety, counterfeit parts prevention, and risk management throughout the product lifecycle. Achieving certification brought an accredited third-party auditor in to verify our processes against the aerospace industry's own standard. That verification is what our customers can now reference when qualifying WaveTherm in their supply chain.

- Component traceability: AS9100 requires formal configuration management and traceability practices. Every SOLIDWEDGE™ wedgelock and OpenCOTS kit we ship is backed by documented records built to aerospace standards. For programs with long service lives, that traceability matters.
- Counterfeit parts control: AS9100 mandates formal processes for detecting and preventing counterfeit materials from entering the supply chain. Our certification means this is a documented, audited discipline, not just a policy statement.
- Product safety documentation: AS9100 requires us to identify and formally manage safety characteristics of our products throughout design and manufacturing. For customers whose system-level safety analysis depends on how our wedgelocks perform under load, shock, or field maintenance conditions, that formal discipline provides another layer of assurance.

WaveTherm is a US manufacturer. We machine and assemble our products in-house, in Raleigh, NC, using domestically sourced materials. We do not outsource our quality problems to a distant supply chain. Our engineers design, build, and stand behind every product we ship.
